Valve Gallery - Rectifiers (3)

Valves: AZ1, GZ32, U76, EZ35.

Shown above is a Mullard AZ1 rectifier.  This has a P Type base and is of 106mm height.  This has a 4v heater with maximum voltage of 500v but max I of only 60mA. Shown above is a Mullard GZ32 rectifier. This has an International Octal (I.O.) base and is of 115mm height. It can pass quite a high current of 250mA, at a voltages of up to 350v.  Still used in some quality valve amplifiers today.  5v heater.

Two less common valves in the panel above.  The U76 by Marconi Osram has an I.O. base and heater of 30v.  Maximum voltage of 350v and max I of 100mA. Shown above is a EZ35 from Mullard. This has an I.O. base and 6.3v heater. Max I of 70mA with maximum voltage of 325v.  The 6.3v heater will be the same as the heater voltage of the other valves, so this device has to incorporate a high cathode - heater insulation characteristic to reduce the risk of flashover of the H.T. to heater chain.
