Valve Gallery - Output Valves (1)

Valves: PM3, PX4, ML4, MPT4.

Shown above is an output valve from Mullard.  This would have been made mid to late 1920s, when Mullard were still using paper labels.  Uses a B4 base, with height of 112mm.  2v heater. Shown above is a Marconi Osram PX4.  Output triode with legendary reputation.  First developed in the late 1920s, the shape of the example above puts it at 1950s manufacture. Still highly sought after for top quality valve amplifiers today, especially suitable for push/pull operation.  4v heater, 3.5w output.140mm height. A true classic

Back to the more prosaic, above is a ML4 from Marconi Osram.  B5 base of height 115mm. 4v heater, about 1.8w output. Shown above is a Marconi Osram MPT4.  Another from the Catkin range, considered here.  B5 base with height of 120mm. 4v heater with 2.2w output.
