Valve Gallery - Output Valves (2)

Valves: PP2018, HP4118, AC2/PEN, AC2PENDD.

Shown above is a PP2018 output valve from Tungsram.  Rare valve designed for DC mains operation.  Made in Hungary, and used rarely in the U.K. market.  The Sunbeam U35 is the only receiver in the U.K. known to have utilised the "2018" series of valves.  B5 base with side contact, height of 125mm.  20v heater and output of 2.2w.  Shown above is another extremely rare valve, the HP4118 also from Tungsram.  40v heater and C7 base.  Again made in Hungary, in the early to mid 1930s.  Height 120mm.  (C7 base, 6 pins, 4 of which congregated around one side of base, opposite side no pins).

Two versions of the much used AC2/PEN in the pictures above.  The photo on the right hand side also includes two diodes within the glass envelope.  This reduced the number of valves and holders required on the chassis as a separate diode valve is not required. Both are Mazda, with B7 base.  AC2/PEN is 136mm high, whereas the AC2/PENDD above is 150mm high with top cap.  Both of 3.5w output and 4v heater.  Useful in "short" superhets.
