Valves: 220VS, DC2/SG, MS4B, VMS4B.

Shown above is a Cossor 220VS.  This valves dates from the late 1920s, with 2v heater.  In the early 1930s Cossor valves had paper labels to indicate their type rather than printing on the glass envelope.  Approx 132mm height.  B4 base. Shown above is a Mazda DC2/SG.  This is a rare Mazda valve designed for DC mains.  Includes 20v heater, all the valves in the receiver would have had high voltage heater filaments and been wired in series to drop at least some of the mains voltage.  142mm height with B5 base.  A typical receiver that could operate on DC mains is seen in the Sunbeam U35. 132mm height.

Shown above is a Marconi Osram MS4B.  This valve has a B5 base with 4v heater and is 148mm height. Shown above is a Marconi Osram VMS4B var u valve.  This valve has a B5 base with 4v heater and is 135mm height.
