Valve Gallery - Output Valves (4)

Valves: KT66, 43, UL41, KT81.

Classic time again, shown above is a pair of Marconi Osram KT66 valves.  Legendary output valve still sought after today and used in classic amps like the Quad II.  Highly suitable for push/pull working, (the above new pair with matching batch numbers are perhaps the "holy grail").  Height of 145mm with 6.3v heater, I.O. base and 7.25w output. Shown above is a Brimar 43.  This valve was British made but with a UX6 base.  25v heater so designed for "Universal" receivers.  Valve originally from the 1930s though this is a later envelope.  2.2w output.

Shown above is a Mullard UL41.  A mainstay of output valves for radios of the 1950s.  The fact that it was so widely used has meant that replacements are becoming quite expensive now due to latent demand from restorers.  B8A base with 45v heater.  Height of 76mm and 4.2w output.  Shown above is a Marconi Osram KT81.  Using a B8G base and 6.3v heater this valve has an output of 4.3w but was not widely used.  Height of 86mm.
