Valve Gallery - Frequency Converters (3)

Valves: DK32, OM10, 6C9, ECH21.

Shown above is a Mullard DK32 frequency converter.  This valve uses an International Octal (I.O.) base with 1.4v heater.  Likely to have been used predominantly in battery portable receivers.  Heptode of 112mm height. Shown above is a Cossor OM10 frequency converter.  This is a triode hexode with I.O. base and 6.3v heater. Approx 118mm height.

Shown above is a Mazda 6C9 utilising a B8A base.  This is a frequency changer with 6.3v heater and is a triode/heptode. Height of approx 70mm.  One of the pins above appears to having suffered unfortunate forcing into a socket! Shown above is a Mullard ECH21 frequency converter with B8G base.  This is a triode heptode with 6.3v heater and is 78mm height.  B8g bases had particularly stubby pins, even shorter than those of the smaller B8A base.
