Murphy Radio Model U102 From 1946

Shown above is the model U102.  The picture to the right may look as though the cabinet is upside down for the photo, but that is not the case.  The chassis is mounted on its side to the front of the cabinet, such that the controls protrude through the chassis.  Two rails are provided so that the chassis can be easily stood upside down to facilitate easy servicing of the underside discrete components. The front of the cabinet has a large expanse of cloth, which might well have been susceptible to splashes and staining.  This 1946 wooden version of the U102 series is not seen that often, however it was subsequently offered housed in a bakelite cabinet, which is much more common.  Valve line-up is TH233, VP133, HL133DD, PEN383, U403.
